The biggest surge was in the Free State which recorded 91 deaths. This was followed by 77 in the Eastern Cape, 61 in Gauteng, nine in KwaZulu-Natal, 36 in the Western Cape, 13 in Mpumalanga, and 11 in the North West.This as the country recorded 452 529 cases, with 274 925 recoveries. This translates to a recovery rate of 61%.
